Sexually Explicit Videos No Longer Allowed on Vine

Vine, the social video-sharing app owned by Twitter that allows users to post six-second clips, has made changes to its rules and terms of service that now bans the uploading of pornographic content. This means that sexual acts (whether alone or with another person), nudity, and sexual art or animation are now forbidden from being shared on the platform. Previously, these types of videos were labeled with an adult content warning. The changes were announced March 6 and have already gone into effect.

Some users are crying foul since many of them have amassed quite a number of followers from posting sexually explicit video clips. In addition to no longer being allowed to post this type of content, they are now faced with the daunting task of removing all previously posted Vine videos or risk account suspension. The group is also concerned since they perceive this as a form of censorship. Among the users affected are porn actors, adult entertainment personalities, and social media exhibitionists.

With these changes, Vine now joins ranks with Instagram. That app already had guidelines in place that prohibit sharing videos and photos that feature nudity and adult content.
