Get ready to fall as hard for college sweethearts Liam Lowery and Marisa Carroll as they did for each other.
The charming New York couple, who identify, respectively, as a queer transgender man and a queer cisgender (nontrans) woman, married last month on Thanksgiving, and sat down to tell their classic love story to podcaster Anna Sale of WNYC's Death, Sex, & Money.
Between sharing little jokes, laughter, and sweet stories of their flirtation and attraction (as well as some about strife), Lowery and Carroll show listeners that falling in love while one partner is in the midst of gender transition is as earth-shattering -- and mundane -- as any of life's other changes.
"Being with [you] is the greatest joy of my life," Lowery tells Carroll at one point, choking up a bit."It's what I want to do forever, and that's why I want to get married to you. Just to clear it up."
