Sir Ian McKellen, star of Lord of the Rings and X-Men, enjoys a night on the town just like the rest of us!
The iconic 85-year-old actor was seen at a "men only" nightclub event on Saturday, October 12 in North London.
X (formerly Twitter) user @zacidk posted about the sighting, writing, "WHY IS IAN MCKELLEN AT ROAST????" He later posted a photo with McKellen and captioned it "BITCH."
McKellen donned a floral button-up and a black undershirt while many of the patrons around him were shirtless. The photo has over 59,000 likes on the social media platform at the time of writing, and is making international headlines.Daily Mail reports McKellen was seen busting a move on the dancefloor and "soaking up the party atmosphere. He looked like he didn't have a care in the world."
Roast is marketed as "London's Beefiest Club Night" and boasts five floors, 10 DJs, and a darkroom.
McKellen came out as gay in 1988 at 48 years old. In 2023, he told Variety that after he shared his identity, "almost overnight everything in my life changed for the better.
“People who are not gay just simply don’t know how it damages you to be lying about what you are and ashamed of yourself,” McKellen explained. "I was brought up at a time when it was illegal for me to have sex with a man. And that was not that long ago."
