Although she keeps busy with her civil rights advocacy work and her hosting duties on the streaming cultural series So Popular! on MSNBC's Shift, best-selling author and journalist Janet Mock found time to stop by Oprah Winfrey's SuperSoul Sessions talk series at the University of California, Los Angeles. The program appears tonight at 8 p.m. EST on the OWN channel. Click here to find it in your area.

The newlywed bride gave viewers on Winfrey's cable network and the world an in-depth look at her journey to becoming one of the LGBT community's most vocal and visible faces.

In the session, titled The Path of Authenticity -- Embracing the Otherness,Mock talked sincerely about her transition into the woman she is today; a woman who, as Winfrey pointed out, is doing her part to teach the world that sexuality and gender is a spectrum.

"I am proud of what I have been able to accomplish, but most importantly, I am proud that I can be a mirror for young girls," she said at one point during her presentation. "A mirror that I didn't have growing up."
