The nominees for the 29th GLAAD Media Awards have been announced -- and The Advocate is among those on the list.

The magazine is the only LGBT publication honored in the category of Outstanding Magazine Overall Coverage. It will compete against Billboard, People, Teen Vogue, and Time.

Actors Wilson Cruz (Star Trek: Discovery) and Trace Lysette (Transparent) announced the nominees Friday from the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The awards honor films, television shows, media outlets, musicians, comic books, and blogs for showing "fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of the LGBTQ community and the issues that affect their lives."

Last year, GLAAD was only able to nominate two movies in the category of Outstanding Film -- Wide Release, Moonlight and Star Trek Beyond. This year, there are five, among them several Oscar contenders: Call Me by Your Name, Battle of the Sexes, Lady Bird, Professor Marston and the Wonder Women, and The Shape of Water.

There are also a number of festival favorites in the Limited Release category: Beats Per Minute, A Fantastic Woman, God's Own Country, Thelma, and The Wound.

The competition is tough in the television categories. Fox's Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the CW's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, ABC's Modern Family, Amazon's One Mississippi, Cartoon Network's Steven Universe, Starz's Survivor's Remorse, Amazon's Transparent, NBC's Will & Grace, NBC's Superstore, Freeform's The Bold Type, and Netflix's One Day at a Time are all up for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Outstanding Drama Series also has a range of nominees, from Freeform's Shadowhunters to CMT's Nashville to Netflix's Sense8 to NBC's This Is Us to the canceled CBS show Doubt starring Laverne Cox.

The Master of None episode "Thanksgiving," which earned Lena Waithe a historic Emmy win, is also on the list of nominees.

The GLAAD Media Awards, presented by Delta Air Lines, Ketel One Vodka, and Wells Fargo, will be held April 12 in Los Angeles and May 5 in New York City. Learn more at GLAAD.org.
