GLAAD wants to know how you would change the media landscape on Spanish-language TV.
Only 3 percent of characters in Spanish-language primetime scripted television are LGBTQ and many portrayals are unflattering, according to a recent survey by GLAAD. Now, the media watchdog group is partnering with the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and actress Sara Ramirez to encourage change.
As part of GLAAD's #InclusiveScreens/#PantallaInclusiva campaign, a new essay contest will ask people: "What do you want to see in terms of inclusion on Spanish-language television?"
Responses can be in Spanish or English, and include video or photography. The contest ends March 2; winners could snag a chance to attend the GLAAD Media Awards, held in both New York and Los Angeles. Click here for all the details.
Openly bisexual Madame Secretary actress Sara Ramirez contributed the following videos, in both Spanish and English, on the dearth of diverse Spanish-language characters.
