It's no secret President Donald Trump is a misogynist who brags about sexual assault and routinely insults high-profile women, from Maxine Waters to Nancy Pelosi to Hillary Clinton.

Trump's vitriol also extends to prominent female journalists and talking heads, something highlighted in the new book, Sinking in the Swamp: How Trump's Minions and Misfits Poisoned Washington, by Daily Beast reporters Lachlan Markay and Asawin Suebsaeng.

An excerpt of the book chronicles Trump's bile towards MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski and The View's Meghan McCain. Markay and Suebsaeng describe Trump gossiping with his campaign staffers about Brzezinski's love life and, later, going on tirades with friends about McCain's weight and appearance.

Trump also had bitter resentments toward MSNBC journalist Katy Tur, who covered his 2016 presidential campaign. Trump was taken aback by Tur's direct questioning during a 2015 interview, where the reporter asked if voters could expect him to act diplomatically with other nations when he was known to insult wide swaths of people, like when he referred to undocumented Mexican immigrants as "rapists."

As Tur would later recount in her own memoir, Trump also singled her out at one of his rallies that she was covering. Calling her "Little Katy" and a "third-rate journalist," the presidential candidate encouraged his crowd to boo her, and Tur became concerned for her safety.

But Trump had worse names he used for Tur in private. Tur is the daughter of Zoey Tur, a transgender L.A.-based reporter who covered the riots of the 1990s and the O.J. Simpson car chase. Markay and Suebsaeng say Trump would refer to Katy Tur as "the bitch with the tranny dad" to his friends and advisors. Zoey Tur had been outspoken about her disdain for Trump during his presidential campaign, referring to him as a "fascist" who was "mentally ill," and comparing his rallies to those of Hitler's -- nothing that many other people hadn't already said about Trump.

Katy Tur has not responded publicly to the book's claims, but Zoey has. She tweeted a Newsweek article about Trump's slurs and has several others criticizing him, including a pinned tweet that alludes to Stormi Daniels's description of the president's penis:
