Thankfully, she has a good sense of humor.
We've all seen it by now: the image of a young woman, seemingly alone and adrift amid a sea of half-naked, canoodling men.
The picture has been meme'd innumerable times, wordlessly conveying the feeling of being single or, simply, invisible and out of place. The latest meme to take hold was captioned by Twitter user Mikey Almeida: "olivia rodrigo with her fans." Almeida was referring to the teenage pop star, who has already earned a big gay following with her hit single, "Drivers License."
Then a woman named Amruta Godbole retweeted Almeida's meme and wrote, "I'm in this photo and I don't like. Jk. I mean that is actually me in the photo. But I like it every time."
“I’m in this photo and I don’t like it. Jk. I mean that is actually me in the photo. But I like it every time.”— Amruta Godbole (@Amruta Godbole) 1621647583
Godbole, a San Francisco-based attorney, provided the backstory on the imfamous photo.
“@annamv10 A friend took a photo of me at Folsom Street Fair a couple years ago, posted to IG, it somehow went viral, and now it’s a meme! (Comes up about monthly, in various languages, across the internet.) A fun “fun fact”!”— Amruta Godbole (@Amruta Godbole) 1621647583
Look out, Olivia Rodrigo, there's a new gay icon on the block.
