The Gay Man Running the Army Is With Troops Anywhere They're Stationed
Secretary of the Army Eric Fanning, 48, is the first out gay man to run any branch of the U.S. military. With confirmation from the Senate this year, he's been on the job for months now. Clearly, he's at home with his troops and comfortable in his job. Smart and easygoing, Fanning also seems to enjoy injecting some humor into his leadership style through fun, informative, and cheerleading postings on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, all under the handle “SecArmy.” For Halloween, for instance, he asked his followers which Snapchat icon he should don for the occasion. The “negative” image signing “love” won.
