A misreading of the song has become a misreading of the singer's sexual orientation.
Ariana Grande fans are speculating -- wrongly -- that she has come out as bisexual in her new song "Thank U, Next." In the song, Grande sings about her past relationships with comedian Pete Davidson, the late rapper Mac Miller, and Big Sean.
At the end of the song, Grande sings "I met someone else" and mentions Ari, her nickname, detailing her self-love.
However, that didn't stop overeager fans from thinking that Grande was coming out as bisexual and in a relationship with a woman named Aubrey, mainly because the lyrics on Apple Music used that name.
However, LGBTQ fans still love the song and recognize that Grande has been a true ally to the queer community, even if she's not bisexual.
“I love Ariana Grande’s latest bop. But I died a little inside when she said her latest crush was a girl and by the end of the line revealed it was herself. I thought maybe we were getting Bisexual Ari. 😭 But i still stan.”— Kelli 🌛 (@Kelli 🌛) 1541391905
