The pop star has now performed three weddings for same-sex couples.
For her new music video, "I Need a Woman to Love Me," longtime LGBT ally Kesha helped a lesbian couple tie the knot. The couple, Lindsay and Dani, are longtime fans who were inspired by how Kesha handled anti-LGBT protesters while performing at a Pride parade.
“I've fought my entire life and career to fight for equality and I'll continue to do so forever. So proud to be part of #UniversalLove, I believe there should be love songs for EVERYONE!
Spread the love and listen to the full album here https://t.co/DQyBruTKII”— kesha (@kesha) 1523137327
"I Need a Woman to Love Me"is part of the upcoming LGBT celebratory album Universal Love, whichincludes same-sex anthems from Bob Dylan, St. Vincent, and Valerie June. The album was produced by MGM Resorts, where the ceremony in the video takes place. MGM Resorts had held same-sex commitment ceremonies more than a decade before marriage equality became law.
"When I was approached for this project, I instantly said yes," Kesha said regarding singing on the album, "It was a no-brainer."
The album has been embraced with lots of joy, but also some criticism.

“Okay the #UniversalLove album has some great moments (Annie Clark, Kele Okereke and Kesha) but here’s an idea: have actual queer people sing about queer love??? Not just two queer features on an album about queer love?”— nickelhodeon (@nickelhodeon) 1523003203
“At first #UniversalLove sounded like a great concept- but you don't make heteronormative love songs queer just by changing pronouns and getting a straight person to sing them...”— Rowan Ellis (is probably away) (@Rowan Ellis (is probably away)) 1523139947
