A track recorded years ago by George Michael has finally been released.

Island Records/Universal Music Group dropped the lyric music video of "This Is How (We Want You to Get High)" Wednesday on various platforms. The song will be featured during the closing credits of Last Christmas, Paul Feig's new romantic comedy starring Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding that is inspired by the work of Michael and Wham!

Written and produced by Michael and collaborator James Jackman, the song, begun in 2012, was recorded in 2015 during Michael's final sessions at the Air Studios in London. It is the first track from the English singer to be released to the public in seven years -- and the first since his death in 2016.

Michael's surviving family members, Melanie, Yioda, Jack, and David, presented the song as the late singer's "gift to you this season to bring you all love and festive joy ... whoever you worship ... whoever you love," in a statement sent to press.

The gay singer died in 2016 at age 53 due to complications from an enlarged heart and a fatty liver. He left behind a string of hits from his solo career and time with the band Wham!, including "Careless Whisper," "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," and the perennial holiday favorite "Last Christmas."
