Kelly Clarkson Pays Tribute to Lady Gaga, Belts a Stunning 'Shallow'

Kelly Clarkson

Known for honoring artists by covering their songs, Clarkson delivers a beautiful 'Shallow' and also praises Gaga as a person.

With the Grammy Awards in the rear window, three-time winner Kelly Clarkson took a few moments during her Minute and a Glass of Wine tour stop in Green Bay, Wi. to pay tribute to another woman in the business -- Lady Gaga.

Clarkson, who is currently on her Meaning of Life tour and who is renowned for honoring artists by covering their songs, spoke in glowing terms about Mother Monster before then diving into her own rendition of the hit "Shallow."

"There's a lot of competition between artists in the industry but there's a lot of us that just dig each other and really get inspired by each other and what they're doing. And this chick is amazing," Clarkson said of Gaga. "We're really different, but at the same time, we're really similar in the fact that she just loves music and that's why she's doing what she's doing."

The Voice coach then told a story about how she and Gaga worked on an event together earlier in their careers and that when it was over, Gaga sent her a handwritten note thanking Clarkson for the opportunity to work with her.

"She was the nicest human being ever," Clarkson said. "It's cool to know that someone that talented is also really nice."

Then, Clarkson praised Gaga and Bradley Cooper for their smash hit "Shallow" from A Star Is Born.

"We're going to do our version of it. Obviously, I don't have a Bradley Cooper here. I'm just like, holding it down," she said, laughing. "I hope I don't suck. And if I do, I hope she doesn't see it."

At one point, Clarkson begins to flub a lyric before catching herself, but then she digs in and belts. Watch below.
