Happiest Season, from writer-director Clea DuVall and starring Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis as a couple in the first queer-focused holiday rom-com backed by a major studio, is the gift that keeps on giving. Not only does the movie, with its happy ending (it is a rom-com, after all), give LGBTQ+ people something they never had growing up, there's also a killer holiday soundtrack. While it's still early November, Tegan & Sara's song "Make You Mine This Season" from the film, an infectious ditty out now, may be an exception to the unofficial "no Christmas music until after Thanksgiving" rule.

"You're the only girl I've got on my list / I want your name, I know it's foolish / But I chase the feeling, 'cause you keep me dreaming / That I could make you mine / Make you mine this season," the twin sister duo Tegan & Sara sing in "Make You Mine This Season."

The film, directed by DuVall and written by her and Mary Holland, tells the story of a lesbian couple, Harper (Davis) and Abby (Stewart), who run into problems while when headed home for the holidays to visit Harper's overachieving family, Harper reveals some crucial information. The movie costars Holland, Dan Levy, Victor Garber, Mary Steenburgen, Alison Brie, and Aubrey Plaza. It's a full-on same-sex romantic comedy with all of the holiday fixings. And the soundtrack is the icing on the gingerbread people cookies for queer audiences.

Co-produced by Grammy-nominated out songwriter Justin Tranter, all 11 songs on the Happiest Season soundtrack are from LGBTQ+ artists, including Tegan & Sara, Anne-Marie, Bebe Rexha & Shea Diamond, Brandy Clark, Carlie Hanson, Shea Diamond, and Sia.

"For all types of families, music matters more during the holidays than any other time of year," Tranter said in a release. "To be given the honor to help create a holiday soundtrack that everyone can enjoy but celebrates LGBTQ talent is an actual dream come true for me! There are LGBTQ artists and/or songwriters on every original song. The soundtrack's focus is on LBTQ women to pay tribute to the brilliant queer woman who co-wrote and directed the movie, I hope we did you proud Clea!"

Happiest Season was originally set to play in theaters, but Sony sold it to Hulu in October. The film is now set to release on the streaming site November 25.
