Emmy-winning talk show host and pop sensation Kelly Clarkson has long honored out singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile by performing covers of her songs. Now, however virtual, as part of The Kelly Clarkson Show's "Kellyoke" segment, Clarkson and Carlile have teamed up to deliver crushing harmonies on the Civil Wars' "Poison & Wine."

Not long after Carlile's overdue triple Grammy win in 2019, Clarkson performed Carlile's anthem "The Joke" while on tour.

"I love Brandi Carlile. If you get a chance to see her live, it is amazing. She's so inspiring and just talented and just a really rad human," Clarkson said of Carlile at the time.

"She had this big performance at the Grammys recently, and I was so excited for her because it couldn't have happened to a cooler human being, and a more talented one at that," Clarkson said. "I hope I do it justice, Brandi."

After paying a moving homage to Carlile with her exquisite interpretation of "The Joke," Clarkson exclaimed, "She can write one hell of a song!"

Once the performance began to go viral, Carlile tweeted at Clarkson, "Nailed it."

When one Twitter user said he couldn't get enough of watching Carlile and Clarkson perform together, Carlile weighed in.
