It's been a big year for Jasmin Savoy Brown since Yellowjackets, the Showtime series about teen girls stranded in the woods following a plane crash became one of the most buzzworthy shows of the year. This spring, the queer actor also costarred in Scream playing that franchise's first openly queer character. Now, Savoy Brown, using just Jasmin Savoy for her music, has released a charming, sexy, and a tad melancholy video for her song "Goddamit." The video dropped at the close of Pride Month and features several of Savoy Brown's contemporaries including her Scream costar Jack Quaid andYellowjackets costar and onscreen love interest Liv Hewson. Most notably, Savoy Brown's onscreen persona engages in a tryst with a cute diner server played by Sophia Ali, who stars in The Wilds on Amazon Prime, another show that investigates relationships among teen girls stranded after a plane crash.
In her dedication for the video, Savoy Brown writes, "For the writer in Echo Park (and the comedian in Highland Park, and the photographer in Spain, and the dancer in DTLA, and the psych major in Pasadena)."
The visuals begin with Savoy Brown's onscreen character dining with one love interest (Gabby Sage) before heading home with Ali's waitress for a tumble that appears to linger in the mind of the singer. A montage of lovers of various genders ensues. Those scenes include appearances by Batwoman star Javicia Leslie, Bex Taylor-Klaus and Alicia Sixto. Eagle-eyed Yellowjackets fans may catch Savoy Brown's costars Courtney Eaton and Sammy Hanratty in the background.
A multi-hyphenate, Savoy Brown also wrote "Goddammit." The video is directed by Violet Beane and produced by Savoy Brown and Beane. Earlier this year, Savoy Brown released the video for "Orange Wine," which also celebrates sexual liberation and queer identity.
