Former One Direction singer Liam Payne has reportedly passed away at the age of 31.
According to CNN, Payne died after falling from the third floor of a Buenos Aires hotel.
Argentinian police said in a statement that Payne's death occurred in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires on Costa Rica Street. His body was found in the courtyard of the Casa Sur hotel.
Reuters reports that local newspapers La Nacion and Clarin "reported that police were called to the hotel" in response to an emergency call that cited "an aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol."
One Direction, which also featured members Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan was a popular boy band founded on the British reality competition show The X Factor.
In its five years as a band, One Direction had four number one albums, six top ten hits, and 29 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.
They were one of the most popular bands in the world at their peak.
One Direction had a huge global fanbase, and has always been wildly popular with gay fans. He also had a popular solo career.
