Makers of L.I.E. line up new project

Michael and Gerald Cuesta, the brothers behind the multiple Independent Spirit Award nominee L.I.E., have made a deal to adapt Brady Udall's novel The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint for the big screen, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The novel tells the story of the title character, who, on the first page of the novel, gets run over at the age of 7 by the mailman; the rest of the book recounts the half-Apache narrator's adventures through similarly unfortunate experiences, such as a near-fatal beating and a tumble off a cliff. Edgar Mint was named one of the best novels of 2001 by the Los Angeles Times. United Artists will produce the film with Michael Stipe's Single Cell Productions.
