HHS issues $10 million in rural, minority AIDS grants

Responding to reports and studies released at the Ryan White CARE Act 2002 Grantees' Conference in August, Health and Human Services secretary Tommy Thompson announced 99 grants totaling $10 million to help rural, underserved, and minority communities increase care and services for people living with HIV or at risk of HIV infection, AIDS Policy and Law reports.

"Many communities across America continue to experience extreme difficulties in providing high-quality health care services to their residents living with HIV/AIDS," Thompson said in announcing the grants. "These grants will help those communities fill that need."
