Chicago police said a shooting at a south side home known by neighbors as the "gay house" may have been a hate crime, reports United Press International. Six people were injured, two seriously, when two masked gunmen forcibly entered the house and opened fire during a party early Sunday, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Monday.

"They came in and started shooting. The motive is unknown, and we haven't determined if it is gang-related or not," police spokeswoman Monique Bond said, according to UPI. "The difficulty is that the gunmen were masked." No suspects were in custody.

Bond said the department's civil rights unit was working to determine whether the shooting was a hate crime. Police said the gunmen did not speak or use slurs toward any of the partygoers during the shooting.

All six of the injured men were taken to local hospitals. Four were described as having non-life-threatening injuries, and two were in stable condition with chest wounds. (The Advocate)
