Gill Action Fund announced that it is officially launching an advocacy group that will work to secure equal opportunities for all people regardless of sexual orientation or gender, reports Gillaction.org. Gill Action is also creating a political team and establishing an office in Washington, D.C.

Robin Brand will be Gill Action's chief operating officer. Brand recently served as the senior vice president of the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund and Leadership Institute, where she oversaw the largest LGBT political action committee in the nation, and has also been the Democratic National Committee's Eastern political director.

Gill Action's national political director will be Bill Smith. Smith has worked as a political consultant and media strategist, and his clients have included groups such as the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund and the Log Cabin Republicans.

Executive director Patrick Guerriero believes the national launch of Gill Action will help it to be a strong participant in politics at the national and local levels.

Denver philanthropist Tim Gill created Gill Action Fund to secure civil rights for people regardless of sexual orientation and to promote political participation and leadership. (The Advocate)
