Susan Stanton, the Largo, Fla., city manager who was fired after her sex change plans were made public, is seeking new work, the Associated Press reported Friday.
Stanton, formerly known as Steve Stanton, is looking to become the next village manager of Islamorada, located in the Florida Keys. She is competing against 20 others to replace the outgoing manager, Gary Word. The hiring process, ending in February, will narrow the group to finalists, who will then be interviewed.
Stanton told the AP that she would like to stay in Florida and has been keeping up with the politics in Islamorada and the surrounding area. (The Advocate)
