Days before gay porn
producer Bryan Charles Kocis was killed in his Dallas Township,
Penn., home, suspect Harlow Cuadra (pictured, insert,
left) purchased a background check on him. Cuadra, 27,
allegedly ordered Kocis's address, phone number, and other
facts about him on January 20, 2007, according to
CitizensVoice.com
.
The suspect is on trial
for allegedly stabbing Kocis, the 44-year-old owner of Cobra
Video, 28 times before setting his home ablaze.
The trial, which
started on Tuesday, is expected to last about three weeks,
according to the article. Attorneys interviewed 122 potential
jurors for the case over a five-day selection process.
Last December, Cuadra's
former business partner, 35-year-old Joseph Kerekes (pictured,
insert, right), pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was
sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Prosecutors will argue
that Cuadra killed rival producer Kocis to cut competition.
Cuadra and Kerekes wanted to make a "million-dollar"
film with porn star Brent Corrigan (main image, right).
Corrigan had performed in a number of titles for Cobra Video
before he turned 18 and, until early last year, was entangled
in a litigious feud with Cobra over the use of his stage
name.
Corrigan is expected to
take the stand this week. Investigators have cleared Corrigan
of any direct involvement in the murders -- he is expected to
simply verify evidence in the case against Cuadra.
Cobra webmaster
Alexander Fuente testified that Kocis received e-mails two days
before his murder from someone who identified himself as Danny
Moilin seeking to audition for a Cobra film. In the photos
submitted, Moilin resembles Cuadra. (Michelle Garcia,
