A small plane crashed in Turkey, Texas, following a gender reveal stunt.
The plane "got too slow" and stalled after releasing 350 gallons of pink water "during a low pass for a gender reveal celebration" according to an accident report released this week by the National Transportation Safety Board.
The pilot, identified in documents as Raj Horan, reported that the plane had no mechanical failures or malfunctions that would have caused the crash on September 7. Although the plane was built for one person, two were aboard at the time of impact. The pilot sustained no injuries, and the passenger reported minor ones.
The plane is registered with Horan Spraying LLC, which is based in Plainview, Texas. Representatives from the company did not return The Advocate's requests for comment.
Gender reveal stunts gone awry -- with sometimes tragic results -- have made headlines in recent weeks. In October, a 56-year-old woman died in Iowa after a family accidentally constructed a pipe bomb as part of a gender reveal party. Just a day later, an explosion from another gender reveal in Iowa reportedly shook homes as far as two miles away.
And last year, a Border Patrol officer pleaded guilty to starting a wildfire after shooting a rifle at a target filled with legal explosives and colored powder; the flames led to $8 million in damages.
