The Republican lawmaker brought up butt plugs and dildos apropos of nothing while speaking at a gala for the next generation of conservatives.
Georgia's far-right, conspiracy theory-loving, anti-LGBTQ+ U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is upset about butt plugs and dildos.
On Saturday, while speaking in front of an assembled crowd of the next generation of conservatives in Manhattan, the GOP firebrand took off on a tangent about sex toys.
Dozens of far-right-wing figures, including white nationalists and ultranationalist European leaders, were gathered to attend the New York Young Republican Club's annual gala, where the club's president declared "total war" on perceived enemies.
Known for her divisiveness, unpredictable temperament, and mean-spirited commentary, Greene took to the stage to regale the crowd with her version of red meat.
"By the way, you can pick up a butt plug or a dildo at Target and CVS nowadays," she said, pausing for an anticipated laugh that did not come.
A video clip of her appearance shows her standing onstage looking for positive affirmation, but is instead met with mostly silence and a few jeers.
"I don't even know how we got here," Greene said, having realized that whatever she had intended to do by bringing up dildos and butt plugs did not work.
Silence from the crowd.
A few attendees chuckle, and one can be heard answering "gay marriage" to Greene's rhetorical statement. After more awkward silence, Greene tried to rescue the bit, saying, "Sorry. You may still be finishing your dessert. I apologize."
More silence.
Greene glanced around to look for a lifeline, but none came.
"No, but this is the state we are living in right now," she said as the video clip ended.

On December 9, Carlson spent a segment discussing how "a producer for Tucker Carlson Tonight happened to notice that CVS is now selling sex toys," according to reporter Trace Gallagher.
"The Buzzy Butt will run you $32.50, information I just wanted you to know," Gallagher said to Carlson, who replied in a mockingly deep macho voice, "But it's immoral to sell Marlboros, Trace, just so you know!"
