San Francisco's gay FM radio station ceased its dance format on Thursday night when a new owner took over to play mainstream Top 40 hits.
The station was sold for $6.5 million, a fraction of its price five years ago when it was bought for $33.7 million. According to Radio Info, the new owner, Ed Stolz, is in the process of purchasing several stations, including one in Las Vegas.
After the acquisition staffers at Energy 92.7 were let go, including popular morning show hosts Fernando Ventura and Greg Sherrell of "Fernando and Greg."
