A popular music teacher known as "The Jazz Lady" (pictured) at a London girls' school was jailed on Monday for having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student, but the judge refused to issue a ban on future contact between the women, who claim to be in love.
Helen Goddard, a 26-year-old former music prodigy, admitted to having a five-month fling with the girl, a troubled teenager who confessed to instigating the relationship. The pair traveled to Paris for a gay pride march, exchanged hundreds of racy text messages, and spent intimate time in each other's homes, according to London's Daily Mirror.
"They also romped at her home and the teenager's," reported the Daily Mirror. "When police arrested the teacher at her flat they found the girl there. They seized sex toys, including vibrators and fluffy handcuffs, Southwark crown court in central London heard."
Their relationship was exposed anonymously in July. The teenager's parents insisted that Goddard exploited a vulnerable youngster.
Goddard, who will serve a 15-month jail sentence, will also become a registered sex offender and be unable to work with children again. She may continue to see the student after she is released, however.
