Speakers for the October 11 National Equality March on Washington were announced on Thursday. The list of more than 30 speakers includes activists from the government, the entertainment industry, religious institutions, and the nonprofit sector.
Prominent names include Judy Shepard, Cleve Jones, Lt. Dan Choi, and Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.
David Mixner, who in May called for a national march, will also be speaking. "We are coming to Washington with new messages and new strategies to build our national movement," said Mixner in a press release on the event's website. "We will have one demand in Washington: full and equal protection for LGBT people in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states and the District of Columbia."
