Rep. Patrick Murphy of Pennsylvania will address the House of Representatives Tuesday on the negative impacts of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Murphy is the lead sponsor of the Military Readiness Enhancement Act, a bill that would repeal the military's gay ban and allow gay and lesbian service members to serve openly.

Currently, the legislation has 176 cosponsors, according to the South Florida Blade.

Murphy, the first Iraq war veteran to be elected to Congress, will be joined by several of his colleagues on the floor of the House.

The speech is scheduled for 9 p.m. Eastern, and it may be viewed live on C-SPAN.
