Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took to the Web to film a two-minute video congratulating the Gays and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies on winning the Employee Resource Group of the Year Award by Out and Equal Workplace Advocates.

GLIFFA, which according to its website is the first federal entity to receive an award from Out and Equal, was honored for the role it played in prompting Clinton and the State Department to offer benefits to the same-sex partners of foreign service officers.

In the video the secretary says that the state department is beginning "to track violence against gay people globally" and added that "the U.S. supports the U.N. statement on human rights, sexual orientation, and gender identity and condemns human rights violations based on sexual orientation and gender identity."

The secretary ended by saying, "I promise to continue to fight for a world in which all people live free from fear of violence and fear, regardless of who they are or whom they love."
