Brotherhood, a film about a secret gay love affair between two members of a gay-bashing neo-Nazi group, was awarded the top prize at the Rome Film Festival on October 23. It is the first film by director Nicolo Donato, a former fashion photographer.

The subject matter is particularly timely as Rome has been shaken this year by excessive antigay violence.
