Disgraced former Miss California Carrie Prejean failed to make a scheduled appearance on Friday at an awards event and fund-raiser for the conservative New Jersey Family Policy Council, an absence likely attributable to revelations last week about her sex tape.
Prejean was slated to headline the "Defenders of the Family" event held in Whippany, N.J. However, TMZ.com reported on Friday that she was removed from the schedule without explanation.
"A spokesman for the New Jersey Family Policy Council wouldn't say if they canceled or if Carrie did... but Prejean was still a go just yesterday," said TMZ.com.
An ugly lawsuit sprouted between the beauty queen, who infamously stated during the Miss USA pageant that she believes marriage is a union between a man and a woman, and her former employers, the Miss California USA pageant. The suit was settled promptly last week after the sex tape surfaced during negotiations.
