Ricky Martin, who has stepped out of the spotlight in recent years to raise his twin sons, is partnering with a German broadcaster to help raise money for a youth center in Puerto Rico.

The singer-heartthrob, who last month posted a slew of photos of him with his sons on Twitter, said one of the main reasons he's getting involved is so his kids learn early about children from different parts of the world.

"The idea is to build a center, a safe haven for children that are at risk of exploitation, which is the main mission of my foundation," Martin said.

Martin is joining German broadcaster RTL for a telethon. The event will help to raise money for a number of international children's charities as well as for the youth center near San Juan.

According to the Associated Press, the center will be able to house 150 kids and offer art classes, meditation, martial arts, and yoga. Martin said construction is expected to get under way next year.
