If things go off as scheduled, Saturday night's Gridiron Dinner in Washington, D.C., could be one of the most colorful yet -- with both gay congressman Barney Frank and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin scheduled to speak, The New York Times reported. The Gridiron dinners, which are strictly off the record, are among the most exclusive events in the city, where powerhouses in media and politics gather to share food, drinks, and jokes.

On the fact that Palin and Frank were both on the roster, the Times' Adam Nagourney wrote, "It's difficult to imagine two people who have more diametrically opposed views of the world (not to mention personalities and senses of humor). All the ingredients for an absorbing evening of theater and politics." Although the party is off-the-record, Nagourney added, "with journalists being journalists, and Washington being Washington, it's a good bet you'll be hearing something about this by Sunday morning."

Of course, that all depends on Palin showing up. Palin has routinely missed big events in Washington -- including the White House Correspondents' Dinner and a gala Republican fund-raiser.
