Barney Frank and Sarah Palin shared an unlikely bill at the Gridiron Dinner on Saturday night in Washington, D.C. The former Alaska governor and Republican vice-presidential nominee poked fun at herself, while the gay congressman took shots at Twitter.

Palin, who spoke for the Republicans, cracked jokes to the crowd of journalists gathered for the exclusive winter event, which this year allowed attendees to report on it for the first time.

According to the Huffington Post, Palin said that she "came down from my hotel room and I could see the Russian embassy," in a reference to her notorious campaign statement that leading a state close to Russia qualified her to conduct foreign policy.

Palin also targeted the hairline of Vice President Joseph Biden, saying that if her ticket had won, "I could be the one overseeing the signing of bailout checks and Vice President Biden could be on the road selling his book, Going Rogaine." Going Rogue is the title of Palin's new autobiography.

Meanwhile, Frank, who represented the Democrats, took aim at new media such as Twitter.

"Maybe I lack intellectual curiosity, but I'm not that interested in what Claire McCaskill has for lunch," he said.

Senator McCaskill of Missouri is known for her early and enthusiastic use of the social networking tool.
