Gay Republican organization, GOProud, announced Tuesday that they will be a cosponsor for one of the most significant conservative events of the year.
GOProud will co-sponsor the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC 2010, scheduled to take place in February. The event is known for its slate chock-full of right-wing speakers and workshop participants like former vice president Dick Cheney, and former Arkansas governor and onetime presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee. This year's yet-to-be-confirmed guests include Ann Coulter, former House speaker Newt Gingrich, and Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal.
As of Tuesday afternoon, CPAC had not yet listed GOProud on the CPAC website's page of cosponsors. Other cosponsors include the National Organization for Marriage, Concerned Women for America, and the Alliance Defense Fund.
"GOProud's participation at CPAC is one of the most important things we will do all year," said GOProud executive director Jimmy LaSalvia. "This gathering of the nation's most influential conservatives gives us an incredible opportunity to deliver our message."
