Louisiana Mayor Wants to Protect Gays

Shreveport, La., mayor Cedric Glover wants the city's nondiscrimination policy to cover sexual orientation and gender identity.

The Shreveport Times reports that Cedric Glover and three city council members will push for the change by lobbying other city councilmen and women.

"It is the right, proper, and appropriate thing to do," Glover said.

The mayor's actions come on the heels of a minor scandal that had a city councilman attempting to pull city money from the nonprofit Robinson Film Center because he claimed it "supported gay and lesbian rights."
