An editorial in Wednesday's Washington Post calls Uganda's antihomosexuality bill an outrage, saying that even with the death penalty off the table, the alternative of life imprisonment "should neither be celebrated nor considered a concession by the government in response to pressure from the United States and other nations."
The article continues, "The proposal is barbaric. That it is even being considered puts Uganda beyond the pale of civilized nations."
On Monday, The New York Times took things one step further and called for an end to financial aid in Uganda if the bill passes.
