The National Enquirer claims that CNN anchor Anderson Cooper plans to adopt a child orphaned by the devastating earthquake in Haiti.

Cooper, who has been covering the story from Haiti since last month, was deeply moved by the tragedy, reports the increasingly credible tabloid that broke the news of the John Edwards affair.

"The death and destruction in Haiti made Anderson realize what's really important. He and Ben have decided to become dads," said a longtime friend, according to the Enquirer.

Cooper, 42, is currently renovating a former West Village firehouse he recently purchased as a home in New York City, says the Enquirer.
