The director of film featuring the first gay male kiss in mainstream Bollywood said his movie should make it past the censors.

"At the moment, I'm not thinking about any political or censor problems," Sanjay Sharma told the BBC. He made the film after a high court overturned a law outlawing homosexuality in 2009. The movie, Dunno Y ... Na Jaane Kyun (Don't Know Why), is touted as Bollywood's answer to Brokeback Mountain. It's Sharma's directorial debut.

According to the BBC, Sharma said that the film depicts an honest relationship between two men.

"I'm not afraid of anything," he said. "I stand by my conviction."

Don't Know Why counters the 2008 Bollywood flick Dostana, about two men who pretended to be gay to convince their landlady to allow her daughter to live with them. When their plan was revealed, they were forced to kiss at the end of the movie as a punishment.
