Planned Parenthood released an ad Wednesday countering the Tim Tebow spot that is set to air during this Sunday's Super Bowl.
The ad features former Viking Sean James and Olympic gold medalist Al Joyner, who say that while they respect Tebow's pro-life stance, they are also "working toward the day where ... every woman's decision about her health and her family will be respected."
"Planned Parenthood respects the ability of every woman to make important personal medical decisions for herself and her family, including the decision by Pam Tebow more than 20 years ago to carry her high-risk pregnancy to term and deliver her son Tim," Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards said in a statement. "The Tebows' story is compelling, and central to it is the fact that we must respect the ability of every woman to make important medical decisions for herself and her family, after receiving counsel from medical professionals, religious leaders, family members, or others she trusts."
Tebow will appear in an ad for antigay group Focus on the Family alongside his mother, who decided not to abort him when she was pregnant with him despite warnings from doctors. Tebow, a senior at the University of Florida, is a Heisman Trophy winner and prospect for the upcoming NFL draft.
