An African gay rights group denounced Uganda pastor Martin Ssempa for screening gay porn in an effort to increase support for the bill that would impose penalties including death on gay people.

Ssempa screened the gay porn to around 300 people in an evangelical church in Kampala on Wednesday. He justified the screening by saying that it was imperative for Ugandans to know what gay people do in private.

Nthateng Mhlambiso of the gay rights group Behind the Mask denounced the move to the BBC.

"Showing pornography in church in the presence of minors is twisted homophobic propaganda, where homosexuality is equated to paedophilia and pornography," she said.
