The New Hampshire house voted Wednesday to defeat two efforts to overturn the new marriage equality law.
According to the Union-Leader, "the House voted by a wide margin, 201-135, against a constitutional amendment that defined marriage as between one man and one woman. It later defeated a proposed repeal of the state's new marriage, 210-109."
The marriage equality law passed last year and took effect on January 1. Same-sex couples in civil unions, which became legal two years ago, may convert their relationship to a marriage now, or wait until the conversion becomes automatic in 2011.
