Florida Gay Bar Pioneer Dies

Roverta Boen, who opened northeast Florida's first gay bar in 1964, has died at age 81. Boen was the owner of Bo's Coral Reef in Jacksonville Beach and was a major supporter of LGBT equality. On the bar's website, Boen states, "I have been very proud of having the ability to have a place where there is no discrimination and do not tolerate it at all."
