Antigay Virginia AG to Sue Over Health Care Bill

Ken Cuccinelli, Virginia's antigay attorney general, says he plans to file suit against the federal government for the impending health care overhaul.

Cuccinelli, who last week said gay acts were a detriment to society and earlier in the month ordered his state's colleges to stop protecting gay people from discrimination, argues that the congressionally passed health care bill violates the U.S. Constitution's commerce clause because it stipulates that most Americans have health insurance coverage by 2014.

Virginia's legislature recently passed a bill declaring the state's residents cannot be required to purchase health insurance, and Republican governor Bob McConnell is expected to sign the measure into law this week.
