Out actor John Barrowman talked to Entertainment Weekly about the possibility of an American version of his British show Torchwood, telling the magazine he hopes his character remains a lover of men, women, and sexy aliens.

The sci-fi show is being considered by Fox for a U.S. reboot, and according to Barrowman, Torchwood and Queer as Folk creator Russell T. Davies has made it clear Barrowman should continue in his role as randy Capt. Jack Harkness.

"If I am asked to do Torchwood again, I will do it at the drop of a hat -- whether it's in America or back in Britain or if it's for a film. I absolutely love Capt. Jack," Barrowman, who will soon appear on ABC's Desperate Housewives, told Entertainment Weekly.

Barrowman says he will push to keep his character from being changed into a hetero hero should the show become Americanized: "The last thing I would want would be for Jack to become this heterosexual, straight hero. He's an omnisexual guy. He likes men, women, aliens, whatever. I think we should continue going down that route."
