A Facebook page set up by Constance McMillen's Mississippi peers has drawn both detractors and supporters of the gay high school student, who was told she couldn't take her girlfriend to prom.
"Constance quit yer cryin," with a picture of a sobbing baby, had over 2,500 fans as of late Thursday. But notes on the wall of the Facebook page vary wildly. Messages include everything from "I SUPPORT CONSTANCE MCMILLEN!!!! COME SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!!!!!" to "dyke dykety dyke dyke dyke!"
Earlier this week, McMillen told The Advocate she was sent to a "fake prom" while the rest of her class partied at a secret location at an event organized by parents.
"They had two proms and I was only invited to one of them," McMillen said. "The one that I went to had seven people there, and everyone went to the other one I wasn't invited to."
