Angel Ayala (pictured), charged with kidnapping, carjacking, and robbing a gay man he met using Craigslist personals, is scheduled to appear in court Monday in Hermosa Beach, Calif.

According to KTLA-TV, Ayala, a 24-year-old from South Los Angeles with an "extensive history of violence," was on parole for car jacking when Hermosa Beach police arrested him Friday. Detectives say that he met a victim in the latter's apartment on April 1 after meeting online.

Ayala arrived with a handgun and ordered the victim to put a television, computer, and camera into his vehicle, police say. Then he drove to an ATM and ordered the victim to withdraw money, eventually abandoning the man in El Segundo. The car was recovered in Los Angeles, and police found some of the victim's possessions in Ayala's home.

Police suspect Ayala of committing similar crimes in Bell Gardens and West Hollywood. Anyone with information is asked to call Hermosa Beach Detective Mick Gaglia at (310) 318-0348.
