Chinese Singer Arrested Following Gay Murder Spree
Zhou Youping, a popular bar singer in the Chinese province of Hunan,
posted personal ads seeking people to play sadomasochistic sex games
with him, reports Agence France-Presse. Police say he then went on to kill six
men, while at least two others managed to escape.
News reports said the singer, who has been charged with murder, confessed to the killings. A Chinese newspaper quoted Zhou as saying, "At first I wanted them to be my 'slave'. But when they met me they wanted money or had special requests. I didn't like that and wanted to use the hanging asphyxiation method to kill them."
The first victim was a man from Gansu who Zhou had discovered was HIV-positive. Another victim was a man from Henan who had lied to his wife that there was a job opportunity in Changsha. She received a call from police after his body was found in a hotel room.
