Tea Partier Calls on Sen. Graham to Come Out
The head of an anti-illegal immigrant group, Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee, called for Republican senator Lindsey Graham (pictured) to come out of the "log cabin closet" at a Tea Party rally on Saturday.
ALIPAC's William Gheen was speaking about the senator's involvement with a comprehensive immigration bill that may not be favorable to conservatives, according to The Washington Post.
"Senator Graham," he said, "you need to come forward and tell people about your alternative lifestyle and your homosexuality. Come out of that closet, Lindsey. Come out of that log cabin closet...Look, I'm a tolerant person. I don't care about your private life, Lindsey. But as our U.S. senator I need to figure out why you're trying to sell out your own countrymen, and I need to make sure your being gay isn't it."
ALIPAC also posted video of the speech on YouTube. The Huffington Post reports that the video was tagged with the keywords fag and queer. ALIPAC officials said it was due their account being hacked, and the keywords were eventually replaced.
Also at the event was former Colorado congressman Tom Tancredo, who called on Americans to send President Obama back to Kenya, according to Washington Monthly. Another speaker, a Baptist minister, said he was prepared to "suit up, get my gun, go to Washington, and do what [the military] trained me to do."
